Wake County seeks to hear from residents most affected by the digital divide, along with those committed to eliminating digital inequities.

Wake County is hosting a series of Community Conversations at five locations across the county July 16–18. The sessions are designed to engage members of the community in discussions about barriers to broadband use, as well as provide information about Wake County’s work to develop an actionable plan to ensure equitable, affordable high-speed internet access for residents.

“Engaging with our residents and incorporating their experiences into our digital equity planning is an important part of this process,” said Wake County Board of Commissioners Chair Shinica Thomas. “We are excited to meet our communities where they are and learn first-hand from those who have been most affected by the digital divide.”

Wake County’s Digital Inclusion Plan will build and expand upon the North Carolina Digital Equity Plan. The County will consider feedback from the Community Conversations as it creates a comprehensive strategy to bring digital tools, resources and skills to individuals and communities, so they can fully participate in the digital environment.
