Our Solid Waste Team provides waste disposal and recycling drop-off services to residents and businesses in Wake County, along with award-winning education programs. Last year, the South Wake Landfill accepted 530,741 tons of garbage, and our Waste & Recycling facilities recycled 40,751 tons of materials!

Service Updates

Convenience Center Site 7 Unable to Accept Construction Waste, Scrap Metal

Convenience Center Site 7 at 9024 Deponie Dr in Raleigh will be unable to accept construction debris and scrap metal beginning June 19, 2024. Residents who want to recycle scrap metal should take it to North Wake Multi-Material Recycling at 9029 Deponie Dr, which is open Monday through Saturday from 8 am until 4 pm.

Construction debris is accepted at the following Convenience Centers:

  • Site 4, 3600 Yates Mill Pond Rd in Raleigh
  • Site 10 at 5216 Knightdale-Eagle Rock Rd in Knightdale
  • Site 11 at 5051 Wendell Blvd/Bus 64 in Wendell

We apologize for the inconvenience while we improve the canopy structure at Site 7.    

Convenience Center Site 10 Unable to Accept Bulky Waste

Convenience Center Site 10 is unable to accept bulky waste because of equipment failure. Residents who need to dispose of mattresses, furniture, or other bulky items should take them to Site 11 at 5051 Wendell Blvd/Bus 64 in Wendell until further notice.

Facilities Hours of Operations

All facilities are closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve (at noon) and Christmas Day.
