The Wake County Holding Facility is the official morgue of Wake County. We provide a safe and secure location for Wake County decedents while they await funeral arrangements or an examination by a medical examiner.

Our hours of operations are Monday – Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. We can be reached at 919-817-5708 or by email WakeCountyMorgue@wake.gov.

The North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine if an examination is necessary. If an examination is required, it will be completed by the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
