Wake County Emergency Management maintains 24/7 coverage to assist in the coordination and response to emergency incidents via a group of highly trained emergency management specialists. These specialists serve as the Staff Duty Officer (SDO) on a rotational on-call basis.

SDOs provide expert technical and operational support with a variety of strategies, tactics, equipment and specialized knowledge to maintain an all-hazards approach to responding to both natural and human-made events in support of local, county, state and federal partners.
