Tuesday, May 14, is Election Day for the 2024 Second Primary

212 polling places open 6:30 a.m.–7:30 p.m.

Voters have one final opportunity to cast their ballots in the 2024 Second Primary on Tuesday, May 14, in their home precinct. Election Day polling places will be open from 6:30 a.m.–7:30 p.m.

“We have almost half a million Wake County residents eligible to vote in this election,” said Wake County Board of Elections Director Olivia McCall. “Check your registration status to see if you have a sample ballot before heading to the polls.”

Because no candidate for N.C. Lieutenant Governor, N.C. Auditor and U.S. House of Representatives District 13 received enough votes to be declared the nominee during the March Republican Primary, a runoff will take place on May 14. The runoff will be between the two candidates who received the most votes in each contest.

Voters affiliated with the Republican Party and unaffiliated voters who voted in the Republican Primary or did not vote in March are eligible to vote in the 2024 Second Primary. Visit wake.gov/upcomingelection to view the candidate list and sample ballots.

Wake County voters who requested an absentee ballot for the Second Primary must ensure their ballot is delivered to the Board of Elections Operations Center by 7:30 p.m. on May 14. The deadline to receive absentee ballots also applies to those delivered by mail. A postmark on or before Election Day does not establish timely receipt of a ballot delivered after the deadline.

Unofficial results will be reported on the State Board of Elections Results Dashboard as they become available. In accordance with state law, county boards may not begin the process of closing the Early Voting polls prior to 7:30 p.m. This process may take an hour or more and Election Day precinct results will follow.
