13 sites open now through March 2 at 3 p.m.
The Wake County Board of Elections is reminding voters that in-person Early Voting is available now at 13 locations across the county. Eligible Wake County residents can use any of the 13 Early Voting sites to cast their ballot ahead of the March Primary. “All sites are open every day, now until Saturday, so Early Voting is a convenient way to cast your ballot if there is a day that works best for your schedule,” said Wake County Board of Elections Director Olivia McCall. “These primaries have numerous federal, state and county contests, so we encourage voters to look up their sample ballot on our website.”
Early Voting will be open the following hours until Saturday, March 2:
- Weekdays from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Early Voting period is also the last chance for voters to register to vote or update their address. Same-day registration information can be found here. Voters will still have an opportunity to vote on Election Day, March 5, in their home precinct if they miss the Early Voting period. Election Day polling places will be open from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.
In a partisan primary, voters affiliated with a political party may only vote their party’s ballot and may not vote in another party’s primary. This remains true even if the party you are affiliated with does not have a primary in 2024, such as the No Labels Party and the Green Party. Unaffiliated voters will be able to choose either a Democratic, Republican or Libertarian primary ballot. Voters can view the candidate lists and see sample ballots at wake.gov/upcomingelection.
The March Primary is the first statewide election since the implementation of the voter photo ID requirement for North Carolina. All voters will be asked to show an acceptable ID prior to receiving their Primary ballot. A full list of acceptable IDs can be found at Voter ID | NCSBE. Wake County voters can also stop by the Wake County Board of Elections Office, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., except on holidays to receive a free photo ID. No appointment is necessary. Residents can also visit a Department of Motor Vehicles location for a No-Fee ID Card.
