Harris Nuclear Program Protective Actions

In the unlikely event of an emergency at Harris Nuclear Power Plant, you may be instructed to shelter in place or evacuate.

Go Inside, Stay Inside – a shelter in place order means that you should immediately go indoors. If you are already inside, stay there.
Often sheltering in place provides the best protection.

In the unlikely event that an emergency at the Harris Nuclear Power Plant requires you to evacuate your home, emergency officials will provide information and instructions.
Listen to local radio or television stations and follow evacuation instructions.
Individuals who are not within the declared evacuation area should not evacuate. They should continue to monitor the event and follow the instructions of the local authorities.
Evacuating when not required has the potential to increase the risk to your family and others by creating more outbound traffic and slowing the evacuation from the affected area.
