Clerk to the Board

Mission: The Clerk is committed to providing Wake County residents with a permanent record of Board actions including historical and current official records and assuring that Board operational processes and procedures are followed.

Purpose: The Clerk is the official, legal accountable, record keeper to the Wake County Board of Commissioners.  The Clerk must be appointed and duly sworn into official public office.

What We Do: Provide various administrative duties including preparation of correspondence, resolutions, proclamations, and ordinances in addition to the transcription of minutes, assuming responsibility for content and format; schedules and coordinates meetings for Commissioners and are responsible for responding to requests from the general public and County employees for information and/or services.

What We Provide: Provide official notice of Board of Commissioner meetings, records meeting minutes and all official actions of the Board of County Commissioners, serves as custodian of the County seal, distributes meeting agendas, assists the public to register to speak at Board meetings, administers the Board’s appointment process for advisory boards, archives and provides access to the Board’s permanent records and administers oaths of office.
